The US Republican gay group GOProud has appointed Ann Coulter to its advisory board.
Ms Coulter, a lawyer and conservative commentator, opposes gay marriage, the end of the military gay ban and teaching children about the “homosexual lifestyle”, among other LGBT issues.
The commentator, who has previously called political opponents “faggots”, will be the group’s “honorary chair and gay icon”, a press release from GOProud said.
GOProud chairman Christopher Barron said: “Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud’s leadership.
“Ann helped put our organisation on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and the apologists – Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of those things. We need more Ann Coulters.”
Ms Coulter, who has supported the group in the past, despite being against virtually every gay rights advance, said: “I am honoured to serve in this capacity on GOProud’s Advisory Council, and look forward to being the queen of fabulous.”
